Job summary

SPT Labtech in Cambridge, England, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Robotics to design and implement firmware for robotics-enabled lab instruments. The role centers on embedded C++ for ARM Cortex-M, with motor control, sensor interfaces, and device-driver integration across CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI and I2C.

You will collaborate across software, electronics and mechanical teams to deliver robust, scalable firmware.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial experience in embedded software or firmware development.
• Strong, hands-on C/C++ on ARM microcontrollers (Cortex-M series).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software in C++ for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
• Implement motor and actuator control across open-loop and closed-loop schemes.
• Integrate modules and sensors over CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI, I2C and GPIO.
• Shape firmware and system architecture with clear interfaces.
• Contribute to PC-side C# .NET code.
• Produce reliable, diagnosable firmware with self-test and fault handling.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Create clear technical documentation.
