Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for a modern C++/Embedded Linux role in Barnsley. You will contribute across design, development, integration and validation in a small, highly skilled R&D team.

Key tasks include refactoring to modern C++, implementing robust software for embedded devices, and collaborating with hardware engineers. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial embedded software development.
• Strong production experience with modern C++ in embedded Linux.
• Ability to read hardware schematics and debug on target hardware.
• Experience with TCP/UDP, HTTP/REST, TLS and OTA updates.
• Experience in a small, ownership-driven R&D team.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop and debug software for existing and new products.
• Refactor legacy code to modern, object-oriented C++.
• Ensure code meets safety, functionality and performance standards.
• Participate in reviews and produce technical documentation.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and project leads; provide effort estimates.
• Mentor fellow engineers as the team grows.
