Job summary

Northern Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join its embedded software team delivering critical infrastructure products for the energy sector. The role is hands-on, focusing on C/C++ development in embedded Linux environments across a product platform.

You will collaborate with hardware, systems and test engineers, deliver new functionality, and coach junior engineers while contributing to code reviews to maintain software quality.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years' commercial embedded software development experience.
• Strong hands-on programming experience using C and/or C++.
• Practical experience developing software for embedded systems, including microcontrollers and low-level architectures.
• Experience working through the lifecycle of an embedded product, from development and testing through to release and ongoing enhancement.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software using C/C++
• Deliver new functionality and enhancements across an established embedded product platform
• Investigate software defects and undertake unit, integration and system-level testing
• Collaborate with hardware, systems and test engineers throughout the product development lifecycle
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers while contributing to code reviews and software quality improvements
