Job summary

Parkside Recruitment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own embedded Linux/C++ software platforms across satellite, maritime safety and mission-critical systems. Based in Uxbridge, the role combines architecture, hands-on development and technical leadership for multi-processor embedded products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of embedded software experience.
• Strong background in modern C++ and Embedded Linux.
• Deep knowledge of Yocto/OpenEmbedded and multi-processor products.
• Experience defining architectures and leading teams.
• Hands-on with code while acting as technical authority.
• Low-level C, firmware and embedded systems familiarity.
• Documentation in regulated or safety-critical contexts.
• Security-aware software design and testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of major embedded software work packages.
• Define software architecture translating system requirements into designs.
• Develop production-grade C++ applications on Embedded Linux/Yocto.
• Work across Linux apps, firmware and embedded hardware boundaries.
• Develop networking/communication functionality for constrained environments.
• Integrate software with satellite services and REST APIs.
• Establish CI/CD, code review and automated testing practices.
• Define testing strategies including unit/integration/Hardware-in-the-Loop.
• Embed security into architecture with secure boot and updates.
• Lead architecture reviews and mentor other engineers.
