Job summary

Sagentia Innovation, part of Science Group plc, seeks a senior Electronics and Systems Engineer to lead the development of complex electromechanical and embedded systems from concept to manufacture within a multidisciplinary team.

You will drive architecture, requirements and verification across hardware, software and mechanical domains, mentoring engineers and engaging clients on high-impact programmes across defence, medical and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Electronics Engineering and/or Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Proven experience delivering products through the complete product development lifecycle
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and multidisciplinary product development
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development and integration of complex electronic and electromechanical systems
• Define system-level requirements and decompose into hardware, software and mechanical work packages
• Lead electronics hardware development including analogue, digital and embedded systems
• Oversee system bring-up, integration and verification activities
• Champion design excellence with design reviews, FMEA, risk management and DFMA activities
• Support development of innovative technical solutions, driving down risk early in the design flow through targeted feasibility studies and technical evaluation
• Manage multiple development projects and workstreams through the product development lifecycle
• Develop project plans, resource forecasts and delivery schedules
• Manage technical, commercial and programme risks
• Ensure projects are delivered to time, quality and budget objectives
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple concurrent projects
• Facilitate effective communication between technical teams, clients and stakeholders
• Build trusted relationships with clients ranging from start-ups to multinational organisations
• Lead technical discussions, project reviews and programme governance meetings
• Translate client needs into clear engineering tasks and deliverables
• Present technical proposals, project updates, issue resolution, and final outcomes to clients
• Support business development activities including proposal preparation, bid support and technical consultancy.
• Mentor and develop engineers across electronics, systems and product development disciplines
• Provide technical coaching and leadership to project teams
• Foster collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement
• Contribute to capability development and technical best practice within Sagentia
