Senior Electronics Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership for the design and development of electronic sub-systems for the aerospace and defence market.
- Deliver project tasks to schedule, cost, and quality while adhering to internal processes and best practices.
- Research, design, develop, and prototype electronic solutions in support of product development.
- Characterise, test, and down-select components for performance and cost.
- Schematic capture of mixed-signal circuit design (Analogue, RF, and Digital) using Altium or similar tools.
- Test, characterisation, and verification of prototype designs.
- Circuit simulation using LT Spice, Agilent ADS.
- Develop, write, and deploy software to evaluate electronic devices or automate test equipment using C# or similar.
- Provide inputs to ensure designs meet manufacturing requirements, utilising DFx and lean concepts.
- Use laboratory equipment such as VNAs, RF Spectrum Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes for measurements.
- Prepare documentation including Technical Reports and Production Test Schedules.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in electronics design, testing, integration, and engineering.
- Good knowledge of current RF technologies, including low noise receiver design, PLL/Synthesizers, and digital attenuators.
- Understanding of RF Antenna Systems and Phase Array Antennas.
- Knowledge of GPS and its potential vulnerabilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with common interface busses such as SPI, I2C, and PMBus.
- Proficiency in high-speed digital technologies, including CPLD, Microprocessors, FPGA, and DDR Memory.
- Experience in deriving and capturing system-level requirements.
- Experience in project lifecycle delivery from bids to operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in design or manufacturing within the aviation industry is advantageous.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Teamwork ability and drive to deliver on time.
- C programming in an embedded environment.
- Experience with embedded processors and real-time operating systems.
- Proficiency in interfacing with hardware devices and peripherals.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and processes.
- Experience in requirement analysis, software design, and architecture.
- Experience with source control tools such as SubVersion and Git.
- C++ experience and Object-Oriented Design knowledge are desirable.
- Familiarity with GUI/event-based design and issue-tracking tools like Jira is beneficial.
- Knowledge of DO-178 standards and software release processes is advantageous.
