Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer in the UK to lead electronics and firmware development for high-value machinery. The role is hands-on and spans electronics, firmware, systems engineering and product development, requiring collaboration with mechanical, software, R&D and manufacturing teams.

The successful candidate will work across microcontroller-based systems, data acquisition and motor control, with strong analogue/digital electronics knowledge and PCB design experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial electronics experience in electro-mechanical machinery.
• Strong knowledge of electronics and electronic control systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers, firmware and communications.
• PCB/circuit design and prototyping experience.
• Willingness to work hands-on in lab, workshop and manufacturing environments.
• Proactive with ownership and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop electronics and firmware for industrial applications.
• Design and prototype microcontroller-based systems and motor control.
• Create analogue and digital electronics and PCB layouts.
• Prototype testing, troubleshooting and in-lab rework.
• Support products through full lifecycle with cross-functional teams.
• Travel occasionally to customers and suppliers.

I'm currently recruiting for an exciting Senior Electronics Engineer opportunity with a growing engineering business developing high-value, highly customised machinery.

This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll be involved across electronics, firmware, systems engineering and product development - not just sat behind a desk.

What you'll be doing:

• Electronics & firmware development for industrial applications
• Microcontroller-based systems, data acquisition & motor control
• Analogue & digital electronics
• Circuit and PCB design, prototyping and testing
• Hands-on troubleshooting, soldering and PCB rework
• Supporting products throughout their full lifecycle
• Working closely with mechanical, software, R&D and manufacturing teams
• Occasional travel to customers, suppliers and other sites
• 5+ years' industrial experience developing electro-mechanical machinery
• Strong electronics and electronic control systems knowledge
• Experience with microcontrollers, firmware & communications
• PCB/circuit design and prototyping experience
• Someone comfortable getting hands-on in the lab, workshop and manufacturing environment
• A proactive engineer who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership

Desirable: Altium, EMC/CE/LVD/MD compliance, SolidWorks, metrology and motor control experience.
