Job summary

RTX in Harlow is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join the APNT team. You will design and integrate digital GPS anti-jam hardware, work with embedded systems, software, RF and mechanical engineers, and drive circuit verification and documentation.

The role requires 8+ years in hardware design, on‑site work with hybrid options, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining production readiness for defence applications.

Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded digital electronics, microprocessor systems.
  • Experience with ADC/DAC and memory devices (SRAM/Flash).
  • Experience with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
  • Experience turning prototypes into production hardware.
  • Experience supporting PCB designs to defence/airborne standards.
  • Experience with high‑speed interfaces and signal integrity.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, RS422.
  • Design for manufacture experience.
  • Clear technical communication and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and learn new techniques.
  • Eligible for or holding current security clearance.

Job description

Date Posted: 2026-09-16 Country: United Kingdom Location: Harlow, Essex Position Role Type: Onsite Senior Electronics Engineer Harlow, Hybrid (min 3 days a week on site) Raytheon UK is looking for an experienced and high performing Engineer to join a successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area, creating Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market. The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility and the successful candidate will report directly to the APNT Digital Engineering Manager.

The Senior Electronics Engineer (ideally with 8+ years of relevant experience in designing hardware) will be able to make their mark on a broad and varied range of product designs and will be expected to assist in the integration of these designs into products, being the focal point for the complete system.

Main Duties
  • Develop requirements to ensure compliance to the relevant standards
  • Work alongside our system engineers on architectures of electronic subsystems and own the design
  • Schematic creation, PCB design support, component selection, Perform circuit simulation, evaluation and verification
  • Work alongside embedded Systems, Software, RF and mechanical engineers
  • Generate supporting design documentation and perform regular technical reviews
Candidate Requirements: Essential
  • Experience with embedded digital electronics, microprocessor systems
  • Experience of working with ADC/DAC
  • Experience of working with memory devices such as SRAM, Flash
  • Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
  • Experience of creating prototypes and turning them into a production hardware
  • Experience of supporting PCB designs in conformance with defence engineering standards/airborne standards
  • Experience with High-Speed Interfaces and signal technologies such as LVDS, JESD Signal and power integrity analysis
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, RS422
  • Experience in designing for manufacture
  • Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An openness to learn and try new techniques
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles
  • Capable of analysing and reporting on technical data
  • Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
  • Mentor less experience engineers within the team
Desirable
  • Experience of working with the Xilinx chip family
  • Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development life cycle
  • Experience using the Mentor Xpedition PCB design tool and SPICE
  • Experience of circuit simulation tools such as Simscape and creating spice models
  • Experience of creating design models in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience creating DO254 compliant electronic systems
  • APNT systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
  • Understanding of environmental requirements (shock, vibration, EMC, etc.), experience applying these requirements to a design and experience testing for these requirements

Work Culture

37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements. Early 1.30pm finish Friday, start your weekend early! Remote, hybrid and site based working opportunities, dependant on your needs and the requirements of the role. Up to 5 paid days volunteering each year.
