Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Test Engineer to support electro‑optical test equipment development and production. You will work with the test engineering team to specify, design, integrate and verify test solutions spanning optical, thermal, electronic and software domains.

The role is hands-on and requires broad technical understanding and collaboration with production teams. You will hold a HND or above in system or electrical engineering and bring experience of electrical testing and

Qualifications

• HND or above in system or electrical engineering.
• Experience of electrical test and electro-optics.
• Understanding of optoelectronic devices and systems.
• Ability to assimilate and apply technical information to design tasks and to problem solving.
• Attention to detail and ability to work with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Define a test strategy and plan.
• Define a test system.
• Generate work packages and estimate the cost to deliver said plan across multiple functions.
• Coordination and execution of work packages from bid through to project completion, to cost, quality and time, with appropriate governance.
• Build, commissioning and verification of new test solutions.
• Development testing of product with understanding of environmental stress screening and production lifespan.
• Prepare technical documentation including user instructions.
• Support test system related issues in production and investigate root causes of detector faults.
