Job summary

Cobalt Consulting (UK) Ltd is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our water sector engineering team in Peterborough and the East Anglia region. The role focuses on delivering complex electrical designs for major water infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with current regulations and client requirements.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive sustainable, low-carbon solutions through design reviews, CDM compliance, and offsite

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
• Experience on water-sector assets and capital projects.
• Knowledge of electrical regulations, standards and codes of practice.
• Experience reviewing electrical designs and technical documentation.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction across water infrastructure projects.
• Review electrical design deliverables from internal teams and supply chain.
• Check specs, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models for standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, design managers and project managers on milestones.
• Manage design quality throughout the workflow and ensure on-time reviews.
• Support construction phase with technical advice.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.
• Champion sustainable, low-carbon electrical design.
