Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer to deliver surveys, design drawings and specifications for building projects. You will ensure systems meet regulatory and safety requirements while collaborating with the design team.

You will play a lead role on projects, manage budgets, attend design and site meetings, and help develop colleagues through CPD and hands-on delivery within an employee-owned, profit-sharing culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or building services engineering.
• Experience designing electrical services for building projects.
• Knowledge of BIM, Revit, and TAS.
• Ability to prepare budgets and pre-tender estimates.
• Experience attending design and site meetings.
• Understanding of health, safety and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities

• Undertake electrical design including surveys, drawings and specs for projects.
• Lead on projects involving mechanical and electrical services with other design team members.
• Prepare budget costs for schemes and maintain during design stage; issue pre-tender estimates.
• Comment on electrical services valuations during construction.
• Attend project design meetings, VE workshops, Risk workshops as required.
• Attend site visits and participate in site meetings, snagging and end of defects inspections.
• Undertake surveys and reports (feasibility, condition surveys) and generate reports.
• Deliver electrical services presentations to clients and teams.
• Advise on energy use and carbon footprint reduction.
• Assist with tender reviews and supplier recommendations.
