Job summary

Northcote M&E in Buckinghamshire is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead building services electrical design across commercial, residential, education and healthcare projects. The role offers hybrid working from the Buckinghamshire office or fully remote for London-based engineers, with a strong path to Associate and Regional Director.

Qualifications

• Solid UK experience in electrical building services design, ideally within a consultancy.
• Confidence leading design and representing the practice in meetings.
• Experience with Amtech, DIALux or Relux, and AutoCAD or Revit.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 and UK standards.
• IEng or CEng, or working towards it, is a real advantage.
• Full UK driving licence (office-based role).
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical building services design from inception to completion.
• Attend client and design team meetings, often as the lead electrical representative.
• Develop system options, plant space planning and early budget costings.
• Carry out design calculations: lighting, cable sizing, distribution boards, load assessments.
• Produce tender-quality drawings in AutoCAD / Revit.
• Survey existing installations and liaise with utility companies on new supplies.
• Support contractors through construction, including coordination and snagging.
