Job summary

AFRY’s Energy Division in the UK seeks an experienced electrical engineer to join the Thermal and Renewable Energy team. You will support projects across feasibility, FEED, owner's engineer, and EPCM stages, delivering designs, reports, and reviews for energy infrastructure throughout the UK.

You will lead technical work, communicate complex issues clearly to senior stakeholders, and travel as required to deliver high‑quality solutions in a fast‑paced, international environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 degree in electrical engineering.
• Chartered status (Principal Engineer) or working towards Chartered status (Senior Engineer).
• Significant knowledge of LV to HV industrial electrical infrastructure; preferably energy projects.
• Knowledge of British and international electrical standards/regulations.
• Able to structure unclear client problems into actionable tasks.
• Proactive decision-maker with strong written and oral communication in English.
• Comfort with travel and working under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve project challenges.
• Provide design support and technical reviews on others' designs.
• Produce conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design deliverables (drawings, specs, cost estimates, schedules).
• Prepare technical reports, correspondence, calculations, and sketches.
• Attend factory and site acceptance tests.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge and performance.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Identify health & safety, sustainability, and commercial risks and mitigate them.
• Support business development, proposals, and bids.
