Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for Communication Systems at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, with hybrid working. The role focuses on system stewardship across the asset lifecycle, requiring collaboration with operations teams, maintainers and project engineers to sustain performance and enable future capabilities.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in communication systems and systems engineering, with strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Systems Engineering.
• Alternative qualifications: HNC/HND with significant relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as System Steward for critical communication systems and maintain knowledge of requirements.
• Develop lifecycle strategies, reference designs and asset management plans.
• Monitor asset health, resilience and obsolescence risks; identify future investment opportunities.
• Provide engineering expertise and recommendations to support decisions.
• Lead engagement with stakeholders, project teams and suppliers for future integration.
