Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Communication Systems to steward critical assets across their lifecycle at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on engineering in a hybrid setup requiring two onsite days per week.

The candidate will lead lifecycle strategies, manage risks and support future network integration, working with operations teams and suppliers in a security-cleared environment.

Qualifications

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with communication systems, electrical/electronic engineering, or systems engineering.
• Ability to manage assets, lifecycle, risks and obsolescence.

Responsibilities

• Act as System Steward for critical communication systems and ensure capability and performance requirements are understood.
• Develop lifecycle strategies, reference designs and asset management plans for through-life capability.
• Monitor asset health, resilience and obsolescence risks and identify future investment opportunities.
• Provide engineering expertise and recommendations to support technical and business decisions.
• Lead engagement with stakeholders, project teams and suppliers for future network integration.
