Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead battery energy storage system (BESS) designs for large renewable projects in the UK and Europe. The role focuses on energy storage, grid connections, and private networks at 11kV–400kV with FEED to detailed design responsibilities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support bidding and quality processes, and contribute to some of the UK's largest BESS projects, with a flexible hybrid work model in London.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience as a FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer.
• Strong knowledge of renewable generation and energy storage technology, especially battery storage.
• Experience designing HV grid connections for energy storage installations including BESS with renewables.
• Experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in energy sector.
• Knowledge of grid connection requirements (G99, G100, grid code).

Responsibilities

• Work on large projects and frameworks with renewable energy developers, mainly UK & Ireland, with some global projects.
• Undertake FEED, design for planning, feasibility studies for energy storage and grid connections.
• Provide support and gain exposure to bidding, project and quality management.
• Design the BESS balance of plant (BOP) systems.
• Develop grid connection solutions (11kV-400kV) for energy storage and renewables.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions.
• Support the team with bidding, project and quality management.
