Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to drive design work for energy storage, solar and grid connection projects across the UK and Europe. You will lead FEED and detailed design activities, develop BESS BOP concepts, and shape grid connection strategies with a client-focused, collaborative approach.

The role offers a hybrid working model, exposure to some of the largest BESS projects in the region, and opportunities to grow within a global infrastructure consultancy renowned for

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in FEED design, detailed design, or owner's engineer roles.
• Strong understanding of renewable generation and energy storage tech, battery storage.
• Experience designing HV grid connections and metering for storage installations.
• Previous consultancy/contractor/equipment manufacturer or utility experience in energy sector.
• Knowledge of grid connection requirements (G99, G100, grid codes).
• Understanding of electrical plant items and control systems (transformers, cables, breakers, HV protection).
• Experience with software tools listed above.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies (hybrid systems, LDES, alternative chemistries).
• Team player with client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on FEED, planning design, feasibility studies for energy storage systems.
• Design BESS balance of plant (BOP) and grid connection solutions.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver solutions.
• Support bidding, project and quality management.
• Contribute to design reviews and site construction inputs.
