Senior Electrical Engineer

is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in our Manchester office.

This role is suited to a candidate from a Buildings background looking for an opportunity to pursue industry-leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.

We proudly support hybrid working; however, candidates will be expected to travel to our Manchester office a few days a week.

Projects

The role could involve working as a mechanical designer in a large project team or as a project engineer on smaller schemes. You will work on some of the most technically challenging projects, such as BASE Building at Manchester Science Park, the School of Digital Arts at Manchester Met Uni, and Space Studios.

Key Duties

• Undertake detailed electrical engineering building services design and calculations using Revit and Amtech software, with an understanding of embodied carbon in design.
• Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net zero targets.
• Ensure projects are completed to high standards, within deadlines and budgets.
• Represent Buro Happold in meetings with clients, professionals, and suppliers.
• Produce and review reports, presentations, models, and drawings accurately and timely.
• Prepare technical specifications, design development reports, and innovative solutions.
• Manage input to Revit for design production.
• Engage with colleagues across disciplines and participate in discussions, events, and seminars.
• Mentor junior team members, with potential for early line management roles.
• Represent Buro Happold autonomously to clients and collaborators.

Your Skills & Experience

• Relevant experience or credentials in building services, focusing on sustainability.
• Experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer on projects.
• Broad design knowledge across various projects and codes (British, US, European).
• Experience with analysis software like Revit, Amtech, IES, and willingness to learn new tools.
• Digital engineering skills (coding) are advantageous.
• Working towards or being a Chartered Member of IET, CIBSE, or similar.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
