Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Water)

We are currently recruiting multiple Senior Electrical Design Engineers (Water) for long-term frameworks across the UK, supporting major water industry projects including a £100 million framework with United Utilities aimed at improving river health.

RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities on innovative projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting period to contribute to the water sector, working with passionate organizations to create positive change.

Within this 10-year framework, RPS will optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, carbon footprint, and cost, aiming to deliver exceptional water services for a resilient and eco-friendly Northwest.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy services to water industry clients, supporting planning and delivery. The industry offers challenges and opportunities requiring innovation, dedication, and teamwork.

In addition to the United Utilities framework, we work with several major UK water companies, holding a broad portfolio of long-term agreements. Our water projects lead into AMP8 and beyond, offering long-term career stability and legacy opportunities.

About You:

You will handle technical project delivery, monitor budgets, meet deadlines, and ensure quality standards, aiming to exceed client expectations. Joining us means working on impactful projects, collaborating with industry leaders, and making a lasting difference in communities across the UK.

Your Responsibilities:

• Ensure projects meet technical, legislative, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Develop innovative, optimized technical solutions based on client needs.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA).
• Build relationships with clients and partners on technical, commercial, and progress matters.
• Support design and advisory services for water and wastewater facilities.
• Produce and review complex electrical designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
• Deliver multidisciplinary projects as a Design Lead using digital techniques.
• Mentor and develop team members.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Extensive experience in process plant systems within water projects.
• Hands-on experience in water and wastewater projects.
• Proficiency in digital design for construction projects.
• Leadership experience within technical teams, emphasizing collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
• Chartered status or working towards it.
• Membership with IET, InstMC, CIWEM, or in the process of applying.
