Job summary

Vital Energi is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Project Development team. The role supports multiple offices in the UK, with flexibility on location and a focus on running and building projects.

You will deliver electrical designs for pre-construction and tender stages, review specs, and lead junior engineers to meet deadlines while coordinating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• The successful candidates will ideally be qualified at degree level or similar (HNC/ HND).
• Experience with Trimble ProDesign (Amtech) is preferred.
• Knowledge of the latest IET Wiring Regulations is expected.
• Strong understanding of electrical building services design is required.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Solid knowledge of health and safety issues and legislation.
• Experience chairing or facilitating meetings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical design tasks across industrial, commercial and public sector projects.
• Contribute to concept and detailed design during pre-construction and tender stages.
• Review third-party drawings/specs and contribute to proposals.
• Design electrical plant layouts, switch rooms, substations and cable sizing.
• Oversee lighting, containment systems and general building services design.
• Manage and support junior engineers, assigning tasks and reviews.
• Ensure project deliverables are met on time and within programme.
• Represent Vital Energi at technical meetings with stakeholders.
• Ensure calculations and drawings meet industry standards and regulations.
• Coordinate with external designers, customers and internal teams.
• Assist with design issues and minimise impact on projects.
• Design systems with schematics, calculations and equipment selection.
