Job summary

PT Engineering & Manufacturing in Loughborough is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design of power transformers and reactors up to 132kV / 120MVA. The role involves collaborating with customers, suppliers, production, quality, and purchasing teams, and mentoring junior engineers.

The position is hybrid (3 days onsite per week) with a salary up to £59,000, plus company benefits, private medical cover, and life assurance.

Qualifications

• Must have OEM power transformer electrical design experience.
• Strong background in transformer design calculations and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Experience in an OEM manufacturing environment preferred.

Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire - Hybrid (3 days onsite per week required)

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist power transformer engineering business.

This is a senior technical role focused on the electrical design of power transformers and reactors up to 132kV / 120MVA, while also supporting the wider engineering team and deputising for the Electrical Design Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design power transformers and reactors up to 132kV / 120MVA
• Produce BOMs and technical documentation
• Review and approve designs, drawings, and supplier documentation
• Support tendering activities with technical datasheets and compliance documents
• Analyse test results and support continuous improvement
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, production, quality, and purchasing teams
• Mentor junior engineers and apprentices
• Significant electrical design experience of power transformers in an OEM manufacturing environment
• Proven experience with 132kV transformer and reactor design
• Strong knowledge of transformer electrical design calculations and design software
• Experience with FEMM / electromagnetic analysis tools
• Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Up to £59,000 salary
