Job summary

White Label Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for an established Leeds-based engineering and manufacturing business. You will take responsibility for electrical content of projects, developing designs and specifications for control systems used in bespoke heavy equipment.

You'll collaborate with design, production, procurement, installation and commissioning teams, liaising with customers and suppliers to meet technical, cost and programme targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design for control systems.
• Drawing office experience.
• Knowledge of BS EN 13849 and 61508 safety standards.

Responsibilities

Job description

Senior Electrical Design Engineer for an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Leeds.

The company specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke lifting, loading and material handling systems and heavy engineered equipment for demanding industrial applications. You’ll be joining an established engineering team working on large-scale, technically challenging, customer-specific projects.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for the electrical engineering content of projects, developing designs and specifications for control systems used across bespoke heavy engineered equipment.

You’ll work closely with design, production, procurement, installation and commissioning teams, while also liaising directly with customers and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered to the required technical standards, cost, quality and programme.

• Developing electrical designs and specifications for control systems
• Taking responsibility for the electrical engineering content of projects
• Coordinating site, application and design engineering resources
• Managing technical project requirements against cost, quality and programme targets
• Working closely with production, procurement, installation and commissioning teams
• Supporting the design and application of low-voltage motor speed control systems
• Working with relay logic and machinery safety systems
• Producing and reviewing electrical design documentation
• Liaising with customers, suppliers and engineering representatives
• Attending customer sites when required
• Developing a working understanding of relevant industry standards

The Person

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in industrial machinery, control systems or medium-to-heavy engineered equipment.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Electrical design engineering experience within a drawing office environment
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
• Experience designing electrical control systems
• Knowledge of low-voltage motor speed control applications
• Experience with VSDs / VFDs, motors and industrial drives
• Knowledge of relay logic
• Experience working with material handling equipment or industrial machinery
• Understanding of BS EN 13849 - Safety of Machinery
• Understanding of BS EN 61508 - Functional Safety
• Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, although comparable qualifications and experience will be considered

Experience within material handling, lifting/loading systems, conveyors, special-purpose machinery, heavy engineering, industrial automation or other large electrically controlled machinery would be particularly relevant.

Salary & Benefits

• £50,000 - £60,000
• 37-hour working week
• Flexible working hours over a 4-week period
• Opportunity for 5 additional flexi-leave days per calendar year
• 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
• Sickness benefit following completion of probation - 4 weeks basic, increasing by 1 week for each year of service to a maximum of 11 weeks
