Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree–qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience within an MEP contractor or Building Services consultancy.
• Proficiency with electrical building services design for commercial/mission–critical projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit and design software like Amtech, Dialux, Relux or Trimble ProDesign.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of building services installations across multiple projects.
• Produce and review detailed calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, consultants and subcontractors.
• Attend client, design and coordination meetings.
• Provide technical support throughout construction, including RFIs and site inspections.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: London Bridge, London
Salary: 75,000 – 90,000 DOE or 350 – 450 per day (Contract)

Our client is a leading Building Services MEP contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering technically complex projects across the commercial, mission–critical and high–end residential sectors.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their London Bridge office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of major projects, working alongside a highly experienced team within a collaborative and fast–paced environment.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and coordination of electrical building services packages from concept through to construction. You'll provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and work closely with project managers, commercial teams and site delivery staff to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard.

This role offers genuine responsibility, client–facing exposure and the opportunity to influence the successful delivery of landmark projects across London and the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of building services installations across multiple projects.
• Produce and review detailed calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Attend client, design and coordination meetings.
• Provide technical support throughout the construction phase, including responding to RFIs and undertaking site inspections.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, helping to develop technical capability within the team.
• Ensure compliance with current British Standards, Building Regulations and project specifications.

Candidate Requirements

Our client is looking for a technically strong engineer who can confidently manage projects and build relationships with clients and project teams.

You’ll ideally have:

• Degree–qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years' experience within an MEP contractor or Building Services consultancy.
• Strong experience designing electrical building services for commercial and/or mission–critical projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience using electrical design software such as Amtech, Dialux, Relux or Trimble ProDesign.
• Excellent understanding of current regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers would be advantageous.
• Progress towards or attainment of IEng or CEng status is desirable but not essential.
