Job summary

Safran Seats in Cwmbran, Wales is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design team for new product platforms and ensure compliant, on-time delivery of electrical installations.

You will coordinate with OEMs and regulatory bodies, manage calendars and team performance, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge first/Business class seating technology within a world-class aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in electrical engineering with strong aerospace exposure.
  • Experience reading and approving electrical installation drawings.
  • Familiar with regulatory standards (EASA/FAA/Boeing/Airbus).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate electrical design teams for new product platforms.
  • Ensure design work meets standards, schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and regulatory bodies for certification.
  • Review and approve electrical submittals and documents.
  • Support recruitment and KPI achievement for the team.

Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product andplatform designs. Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.Key Responsibilities and Duties• Manage electrical engineering platform teams.• Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team• Supervise and co-ordinate design activities.• Responsible for the management and control of daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team including absence management.• Assisting in recruitment of team members as and when required• Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPI set for the year are achieved• Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets, Responsible for the Electrical submittals.• Coordinate with regulatory agencies i.e., EASA, FAA, Boeing and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.• Responsible for checking / approving systems drawings and documents ensuring compliance to OEM's & Regulatory requirements.• Responsible for producing/updating electrical standard and process documentation• Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalise the equipment and their installation specification of the equipment• Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.• To communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers & OEM's• Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process• The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design elementJob RequirementsQualified to a minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering field.Alternatively, an HNC / HND or an equivalent qualification as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship with significant demonstrated post qualification experience gained in Electrical Design.Highly Proficient with experience in Catia and PLM.Experience with Product Life Management (PLM) SystemsExperience using 3D CAD & AutoCAD electrical software packages or equivalent.The applicant should have an understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as OEM installation requirements.Ability to read design drawings and specifications.Good communicator liaising with customers/airframers/suppliers andintegrated programme team on a daily basis.Experience using project management tools desirable.Proven experience supervising an Electrical Design team desirable.Experienced in working with Boeing and Airbus specifications for electrical equipment installation is desirable.A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture and test of electrical and electronic Components desirable.Experience in new model introduction desirable.You will be required to hold a full U.K. Driving License and Passport, as some UKand overseas travel may be required.Please and submit your CV today!Once your CV has been reviewed, we will contact you with the next stages.We want Safran Seats to be a workplace where everyone feels valued, can be themselves and know they can reach their full potential.
