Job summary

Safran Seats in the UK seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design teams in Cwmbran, delivering installation models, drawings, and regulatory-compliant solutions. You will oversee design activity, collaborate with OEMs, and support program delivery for new product introductions.

Experience with Catia, PLM, 3D CAD, and aerospace installation standards is essential; travel may be required to support suppliers and customers within the program scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship with post qualification experience.
• Proficient with Catia and PLM, experience with PLM systems.
• Experience using 3D CAD & AutoCAD Electrical or equivalents.
• Ability to read design drawings and specs; understanding tolerances and manufacturability.
• Good communicator with customers, airframers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with project management tools and supervising an Electrical Design team desirable.
• Familiarity with Boeing/Airbus specs for electrical equipment installation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design platform teams and ensure design standards are met.
• Coordinate design activities and manage daily attendance and holidays for the team.
• Assist in recruitment and performance reviews; deliver electrical system programs on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies to certify electrical systems installed in aircraft.

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs. Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
• Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team
• Supervise and co-ordinate design activities.
• Responsible for the management and control of daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team including absence management.
• Assisting in recruitment of team members as and when required
• Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPI set for the year are achieved
• Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets, Responsible for the Electrical submittals.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies i.e., EASA, FAA, Boeing and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.
• Responsible for checking / approving systems drawings and documents ensuring compliance to OEM's & Regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for producing/updating electrical standard and process documentation
• Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalise the equipment and their installation specification of the equipment
• Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.
• To communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers & OEM's
• Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
• The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
