Job summary

Apex Appoint Nottingham is recruiting an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join a well-established engineering business. You will work across PLC-controlled machinery projects, handling electrical design, control panels, build, test and commissioning in a hands-on environment.

You will mentor junior engineers and take ownership of controls-related project activity, delivering solutions on bespoke machinery from concept to completion in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• PLC programming and diagnostics.
• Electrical control systems knowledge.
• Control panel design experience.
• Automation and special purpose machinery exposure.
• Robotics knowledge is beneficial.
• Conveyors and automated handling experience.
• Machine build and commissioning involvement.
• Electrical CAD familiarity.
• Mechatronics understanding.
• Project engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Electrical and controls engineering across bespoke machinery projects.
• PLC-controlled systems and automated equipment.
• Electrical design and control panel development.
• Supporting machinery build, test and commissioning.
• Working closely with mechanical and project engineering teams.
• Fault finding and technical problem solving.
• Supporting project delivery from concept through to completion.
• Mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers.
