JFD is the world leading underwater capability provider, serving the commercial and defence markets with innovative diving, submarine and hyperbaric rescue, technical solutions and services. We are seeking a Senior Electrical and Electronic Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis at our Westhill office. As Senior Electrical and Electronic Engineer, you will provide engineering design solutions and through-life engineering support to the commercial & defence product ranges, working as a technical lead for the electrical, electronics, and software engineering team. Your workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications to supporting existing clients’ requests to upgrade or change equipment in the field.

You will also act as a leader and manager to ensure the team is delivering to their highest potential.

Your key responsibilities will include providing design input to new products, supporting existing product ranges, assessing technical queries, providing solutions, and liaising with internal departments such as procurement, sales, and production to ensure optimal technical solutions.

You will source materials and components, create specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certifications, and reports. You will review detailed manufacturing drawings and be responsible as the technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the electrical, electronic, and embedded software products team. Some site visits to other JFD sites and client assets will be required. You will also oversee team performance, staff development, and work allocation.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Electrical/electronic engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
• Extensive experience in circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded software (MPLAB, ST32)
• Good knowledge of electrical systems and designing for EMC compliance
• Proficiency with PCB design software such as Altium Designer (schematic capture & layout)
• Knowledge of electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical
• Ability to generate design calculations
• Understanding of design standards and industry guidelines such as IMCA
• Previous product design experience is advantageous
• Experience with PLM systems for engineering package management
• Experience with diving equipment design and relevant diving qualifications are advantageous
