Job summary

Bradford Council's Education Safeguarding Service seeks a permanent post to lead the delivery of the authority's statutory duties for elective home education, assess safeguarding risk for children not in suitable education, and challenge schools and other agencies where practice falls short. This 37-hour week role requires autonomous analysis and timely decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the local authority's statutory duties for elective home education
• Analyse and prioritise safeguarding risks for children not receiving suitable education or without a suitable placement
• Act autonomously on identified safeguarding risks
• Implement elective home education processes that challenge schools and other agencies on their statutory duties
• Respond to practice below the standards and policies set by the DfE and the Local Safeguarding Children Board
• Give particular focus to children with a social worker, at risk of exclusion, not in school, or involved with Early Help or the Youth Justice Service
• Work with the team to deliver education safeguarding functions
