Job summary

Bradford Council is recruiting a Senior EHE Officer to lead on Education, Home Education statutory duties, and safeguarding for children not in suitable education. You will work with the Education Safeguarding Service and partner agencies to ensure safe settings and timely interventions.

The role focuses on risk analysis, process development, challenging schools and services when standards fall short, and supporting vulnerable groups, including those with social workers or at risk of exclusion.

Responsibilities

• leading on delivery of the Local Authority statutory duties in respect of EHE
• analysing and prioritising safeguarding risks for children who are not in receipt of suitable education or who do not have access to a suitable education placement and autonomously act upon risks
• implementing processes in respect of EHE which provide appropriate challenge to schools and other agencies around statutory duties
• responding to practice that falls below agreed standards and policies set out by the DfE and the Local Safeguarding Children Board

Job Introduction

The Education Safeguarding Service wants to enable all children of compulsory school age in the district to access, attend and enjoy safe settings, and to ensure that the adults who work with them have the knowledge and skills to support them effectively. The aim of this team is to work collaboratively with Council teams and wider agencies to provide a coordinated approach to the well-being of children and young people, whilst continually striving for imaginative and forward thinking practice that will make a difference to the children of Bradford.

We are looking to recruit a Senior EHE Officers to join a team of officers who are responsible for:

• leading on delivery of the Local Authority statutory duties in respect of EHE
• analysing and prioritising safeguarding risks for children who are not in receipt of suitable education or who do not have access to a suitable education placement and autonomously act upon risks.
• implementing processes in respect of EHE which provide appropriate challenge to schools and other agencies around statutory duties.
• responding to practice that falls below agreed standards and policies set out by the DfE and the Local Safeguarding Children Board.

The team of officers are individually motivated but work closely together to lead in the delivery of Education Safeguarding functions with a particular focus on vulnerable groups including children with a social worker, those at risk of exclusion, children who are not in school, and those involved with Early Help or the Youth Justice Service.
