Job summary

Belcan is seeking an experienced Principal EICA Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting major water sector projects and frameworks. The role offers technical leadership across design, procurement, installation and commissioning, with remote working and occasional travel to Manchester for site visits and FATs.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, review technical deliverables, and ensure compliance with UK legislation and standards including WIMES, ATEX and PED.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards registration.
• 15+ years' engineering experience in water or similar industries.
• Recent water sector experience essential; client facing is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of UK standards including WIMES and industry directives (ATEX, PED, EMC, Machinery, LV).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple projects.
• Develop outline electrical, instrumentation and control designs.
• Carry out site surveys and provide commissioning support.
• Attend FATs and produce technical reports.
• Review and approve engineering documentation and deliverables.
• Manage and allocate work within project teams.
• Prepare equipment and installation scopes of work.
• Review supplier quotations and conduct technical bid assessments.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and client requirements.
• Support safe delivery through risk identification and management.
