Job summary

Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department on a 12-month secondment. The role is 36 hours per week across a 7-day pattern (days and nights) in a busy acute ED.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
• Experience in Emergency Department or Minor Injuries Unit.
• Evidence of leadership and team development in a busy clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily ED operations and deploy resources.
• Lead and develop ED team while supporting unit managers.
• Ensure staff compliance with Trust policies and clinical guidelines.
• Provide expert nursing care and make clinical judgments in emergency scenarios.
• Support integration with Urgent Treatment Centre and other services.
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient experience initiatives.
