Job summary

CleanTech Talent is looking for a Senior Ecologist in Birmingham to lead ecological projects across planning and infrastructure. You’ll manage client relationships, deliver EIA/APE work, and guide a growing ecology team, with hybrid working and a 4‑day week.

You will apply your UK ecological policy knowledge, supervise surveys, and mentor junior staff while contributing to business development and maintaining high technical standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology, biological sciences, or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.
• Excellent survey skills including UK Habitat Classification and specialist surveys.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Project management and client liaison.
• Delivery of Preliminary Ecology Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments.
• Habitats Regulations Assessments.
• Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
• Protected species surveys, reporting and licensing support.
• Design of mitigation and enhancement strategies.
• Scoping, planning and leading ecological surveys.
• Mentoring and supporting consultants and assistants.
• Contributing to business development and securing new work.
