Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking experienced Senior/Principal Ecologists to join our Ecology team across the UK, including locations such as Manchester, London, Birmingham and more.

You will deliver ecological services across a diverse portfolio, shape sustainable development proposals and enhance biodiversity on residential, infrastructure and energy projects. You will manage ecological inputs, oversee surveys, produce high-quality reports, support planning/licensing processes

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Conservation, Earth Sciences or related environmental discipline.
• Full member of CIEEM, or working towards full membership.
• Strong understanding of UK ecology, environmental legislation and planning system.
• Experience delivering complex ecological projects through planning and/or delivery stages.
• Experience preparing and reviewing ecological assessments (PEA, EcIA, HRA and Biodiversity chapters).

Responsibilities

• Deliver and oversee ecological assessments and mitigation strategies for a range of projects.
• Provide expert ecological advice to clients and project teams.
• Coordinate ecological field surveys through our network of ecologists.
• Lead preparation and review of technical reports (PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs and Biodiversity chapters).
• Support Biodiversity Net Gain strategies and habitat restoration projects.
• Engage with planning authorities and stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Assist with protected species licensing and ecological mitigation programmes.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
• Mentor junior ecologists and develop technical excellence.
