Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking experienced Senior/Principal Ecologists to join its Ecology team across the UK, in locations including Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge, Exeter, London, Manchester, Reading and Taunton.

You will lead ecological assessments, advise clients, manage field surveys and contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives. You will oversee survey programmes, produce technical reports, and support planning, licensing and environmental assessment processes

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Conservation, Earth Sciences or related environmental discipline.
• Full member of CIEEM or working towards membership.
• Strong understanding of UK ecology and planning system.
• Experience delivering complex ecological projects through planning and delivery.
• Experience preparing ecological assessments (PEA, EcIA, HRA) and Biodiversity chapters.
• Knowledge of UKHab and Defra Biodiversity Metric reporting.
• Experience preparing fee proposals and budgeting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Creative and strategic thinking for ecological challenges.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and oversee ecological assessments and mitigation strategies across projects.
• Provide expert ecological advice to clients and project teams.
• Coordinate ecological field surveys through network of ecologists.
• Prepare and review technical reports including PEA, EcIA, HRA and Biodiversity chapters.
• Support Biodiversity Net Gain strategies and habitat creation.
• Engage with planning authorities and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Assist with protected species licensing and mitigation programmes.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
• Mentor junior ecologists and develop technical excellence.
• Contribute to nature-based solutions and ecosystem services.
