Senior Ecologist Job in Oxford

We are seeking a Senior Ecologist for a growing independent consultancy based in Oxford. This role involves supporting ecology projects across the home counties, the South, and the Midlands. It offers a hybrid working model and the opportunity to manage projects from initial enquiry to completion within a collaborative, technically focused team.

The company is a rapidly expanding consultancy known for technical expertise and delivering practical, client-focused ecological solutions. They work with a diverse client base in public and private sectors, handling projects in land development, infrastructure, and conservation across the UK. This position is ideal for an experienced ecologist seeking to advance their career in a growing firm that values autonomy, technical quality, and work-life balance.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Lead and deliver ecology consultancy projects across the South, Midlands, and Home Counties.
2. Conduct Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), habitat condition assessments, and Biodiversity Impact Assessments.
3. Undertake protected species surveys and assessments of priority species.
4. Prepare tenders, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and technical reports.
5. Design surveys and lead field teams across various project types.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Specialist expertise in one or more ecological areas.
2. Degree or equivalent in ecology or a related field.
3. Membership of CIEEM (or working towards it).
4. Experience with GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
