Job Title - Senior Ecologist

Job Type: Permanent

Location: GUILDFORD AREA

Salary: Highly competitive, depending on skills and experience, with a company van or allowance and benefits. Standard hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday.

Location: Home Based. Travel required; a full clean driving licence is essential.

Role Overview

Join our professional, friendly team remotely, covering various UK locations and clients, including Highways, Local Authorities, housing associations, infrastructure, and private sector projects. We seek a Senior Ecologist with industry experience to support our growing Midlands Region team, managing ecological projects, conducting surveys, and providing expert advice.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading technical environmental and ecological projects
• Ensuring legislative and planning compliance
• Supervising contractors and managing protected species licences
• Mentoring junior staff
• Conducting habitat and protected species surveys
• Developing mitigation and habitat creation schemes
• Serving as Ecological Clerk of Works
• Preparing technical reports and biodiversity assessments

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Degree in a relevant scientific or environmental discipline
• Knowledge of ecology, legislation, survey techniques, and planning processes
• Experience in ecological surveys and environmental sector
• Protected species survey experience, including bat licensing
• Experience in project management, report writing, and client liaison
• Membership of CIEEM or equivalent; full UK driving licence

Additional Desirable Skills:

• Experience with protected species licences, people management, and GIS
• Experience in linear infrastructure and property development projects
