Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment is seeking an Ecological Consultant or Senior Ecological Consultant for fully remote desk-based duties, including reporting and project management. The role involves fieldwork and site visits across the West Midlands, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire regions, delivering ecological projects from survey through to reporting and mitigation.

Requirements include experience in ecological consultancy, UKHab surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain using Defra metric,

Qualifications

• Experience in ecological consultancy.
• Experience undertaking UK Habitat Classification surveys and assessments.
• Experience completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using Defra Biodiversity Metric.
• Strong ecological report-writing experience.
• Strong project management and workload management skills.
• Good understanding of ecology within planning and development processes.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Fully remote working for desk-based duties, including reporting and project management.
• Undertaking fieldwork and site visits across the defined regions.
• Managing and delivering ecological consultancy projects from initial survey through to reporting and mitigation.
• Undertaking UKHab surveys and assessments.
• Completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using Defra Biodiversity Metric.
• Undertaking baseline ecological surveys.
• Producing high-quality ecological reports and supporting documentation.
• Designing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures for planning and development projects.
• Managing project workloads, programmes and deadlines.
• Liaising directly with clients, colleagues and wider project teams.
• Supporting the wider ecology team and contributing to growth of the consultancy.
