Job summary

Kintec Global Recruitment is seeking a Senior EC&I Engineer for a permanent position in Cardiff. You will take full technical ownership of the site's electrical and instrumentation assets, from 11kV down to LV, and drive compliance with standards and procedures.

You will lead the E&I technician team, manage maintenance and shutdown budgets, and oversee safety-critical systems while delivering reliability improvements and capital upgrades.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with significant experience.
• Background in engineering and maintenance within a process or related industry.
• Strong HV/LV experience, including transformers, switchrooms, MCCs, and VSDs.
• Expertise in process instrumentation, fault-finding, and calibration.
• Knowledge of PLC first-line maintenance and ladder logic.
• Solid understanding of hazardous area equipment and protection concepts.
• Experience in process safety, including HAZOP, LOPA, SIL/SIS, and MOC.
• Capital project experience from design through to commissioning and start-up.

Responsibilities

• Take full technical ownership of the site's electrical and instrumentation assets, from 11kV down to LV and instrumentation.
• Maintain and update electrical standards, drawings, and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Act as permit issuer for HV work and electrical approver for excavations.
• Lead DSEAR and ATEX compliance across the site.
• Support the leadership and development of the E&I technician team.
• Manage E&I maintenance and shutdown budgets alongside engineering leadership.
• Drive reliability improvements and asset life-cycle strategies.
• Project manage smaller capital upgrades and support larger projects.
• Approve, audit, and manage electrical contractors.
• Support safety-critical systems, including fire, access control, CCTV, and lighting.
