Job summary

Mick George Group is seeking a Contracts Manager for the Earthworks division at Head Office in Huntingdon, with regular site travel. You will lead commercial and contractual management across live earthworks contracts and act as the key client-facing representative on projects.

The role demands strong NEC4/JCT experience, CSCS Black Card, and a solid health and safety background, with the ability to drive programme performance and team development.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience in Earthworks/Civils contract management.
• Experience administering NEC4 and JCT contracts.
• CSCS Black Card and NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management (or equivalent).
• SMSTS and CDM 2015 principal contractor duties.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contractual management of multiple earthworks and soil stabilisation subcontracts.
• Administer NEC and JCT contracts — early warnings, compensation events, extensions of time, variations, valuations, remeasures and final accounts.
• Protect margin and manage commercial risk, working with the Commercial Manager and quantity surveyors.
• Own programme performance across projects, forecast realistically and act early if delivery is at risk.
• Lead and develop Site Managers, Supervisors and site teams, set clear expectations.
• Set and enforce health, safety and environmental standards across sites, lead investigations and actions.
• Manage plant, labour, materials and subcontract resources across projects.
• Build and maintain client relationships, lead progress and commercial meetings, resolve disputes.
• Report cost, value, programme and safety performance to senior leadership.
