Job summary

Platform Recruitment in Manchester is seeking a Senior DSP Engineer to develop advanced FPGA‑based signal-processing solutions for satellite communications and space missions.

You will work across the full firmware lifecycle, from algorithm design to HDL implementation, verification and hardware integration, with hybrid working and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience implementing signal-processing designs on FPGAs.
• Strong VHDL and/or Verilog development skills.
• Experience simulating, testing and debugging FPGA firmware.
• A degree in engineering, computer science, physics or another quantitative discipline.
• Knowledge of formal configuration-control processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate and implement DSP algorithms for telecommunications and sensing applications.
• Develop FPGA firmware using VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Translate system requirements and interface specifications into robust firmware designs.
• Produce FPGA simulations, testbenches and verification plans.
• Support hardware integration, troubleshooting and space-system qualification.
• Maintain and enhance existing firmware products.
• Contribute technical leadership across complex engineering programmes.

Senior DSP Engineer

Location: Manchester

Salary: Circa £80,000

Working arrangement: Hybrid

I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading space technology organisation seeking a Senior DSP Engineer to develop advanced FPGA-based signal-processing solutions for next-generation satellite communications, sensors and space missions.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary engineering team and work across the full firmware lifecycle, from DSP algorithm design and simulation through to HDL implementation, verification and hardware integration.

The role

• Design, simulate and implement DSP algorithms for telecommunications and sensing applications.
• Develop FPGA firmware using VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Translate system requirements and interface specifications into robust firmware designs.
• Produce FPGA simulations, testbenches and verification plans.
• Support hardware integration, troubleshooting and space-system qualification.
• Maintain and enhance existing firmware products.
• Contribute technical leadership across complex engineering programmes.

Your background

• At least five years' experience implementing signal-processing designs on FPGAs.
