Job summary

AZTRUM is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead drainage and infrastructure design in Cardiff. You will design surface water, foul drainage and SuDS for diverse developments, delivering detailed schemes from concept to delivery while navigating statutory approvals.

You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the civil engineering team, liaising with clients and authorities to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in civil engineering with drainage/infrastructure background.
• Experience across surface water, foul drainage and/or infrastructure design.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of SuDS, flood risk and drainage design principles.
• Experience with MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD and Civil 3D; ICM experience advantageous.
• Understanding of S104, S106 and SAB processes.
• Experience working with developers, clients and statutory authorities.
• Chartered or working towards accreditation through ICE or CIWEM.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage several projects independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design surface water, foul drainage and SuDS solutions for developments.
• Produce detailed drainage and infrastructure designs from concept through to delivery.
• Work on S104, S106 and other statutory approval processes.
• Support SAB approvals and flood risk-related requirements.
• Use MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ICM.
• Work to Sewers for Adoption and DMRB where relevant.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support team development.
• Manage multiple projects, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Liaise with clients, developers, local authorities and statutory organisations.
• Contribute to technical reports, design reviews and project documentation.
• Help develop long-term client relationships and growth of the civil engineering team.
