Job summary

Dechra Pharmaceuticals PLC is seeking a Senior Dispensary Technician at our Skipton site. The role focuses on managing the dispensary workflow, ensuring GMP-compliant dispensing, and guiding the team to meet quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage workflow in the dispensary to ensure tasks are completed safely and on time.
• Act as SME for day-to-day dispensing operations and ensure SOPs and GMP standards are followed.
• Guide and train team members; escalate safety or GMP concerns to supervisors as needed.
• Deliver shift briefings and maintain effective shopfloor communication.
• Promote safety culture, conduct risk assessments, and contribute to incident reviews.
• Support onboarding of new staff and participate in people plan initiatives.
• Prepare and review batch documentation and GMP records to ensure data integrity.
• Address non-conformances, document actions, and support investigations.

Senior Dispensary Technician - £Competitive

Shift details: Late shift, 9DF, 2pm-10.30pm (Mon-Thurs), every other Friday 12pm-8.30pm

Based at our Skipton, North Yorkshire manufacturing site.

The role

To manage the workflow through the dispensary, conducting and coordinating dispensary activities to ensure tasks are completed safely, to a high-quality standard on time to the plan.

• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for day-to-day dispensing operations within the department.
• Support dispensing process across paperwork, picking, dispensing, and Oracle, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
• Support and guide the team. Make routine decisions regarding safety and GMP, notifying the Manufacturing Supervisor or Manager, as a matter of urgency, if there has been any serious failure of safety or GMP which could affect staff safety or product quality.
• Train technicians on procedures, best practices, and GMP expectations.
• Deliver shift briefings and ensure effective communication both ways with the shopfloor.
• Advocate on shopfloor for employee engagement and people plan initiatives to create a positive working culture.
• Support onboarding of new team members.
• Promote and uphold site safety culture — actively participate in safety walks, risk assessments, and incident reviews.
• Ensure all dispensing activities are performed in accordance with EHS policies and permit conditions.
• Drive strong housekeeping standards to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure team’s adherence to risk assessments and input to updates where required.
• Promote active participation in hazard identification and resolution of open hazards.
• Prepare and review batch documentation, logbooks, and electronic records to ensure data integrity.
• Assisting in updating and completion of GMP documentation such as SOP’s and BMR’S.
• Escalate any non-conformances whilst ensuring they are documented appropriately and contributing to the investigation where required.
• Drive right first time (RFT) execution through technician coaching and real-time support on the shop floor.
• Review dispensary telemetry alarms and elevate issues to supervisor.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain schedule adherence.
• Support plan delivery through effective resource and process management,

You

Essential

• Experience of low to medium volume production, manual/semi-automated processes.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety compliance.
• Proven industry experience from a highly regulated GMP production facility,
• A working knowledge and practical experience of pharmaceutical manufacture and ability to manage time and workload effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both within the production team and cross functionally.

Desirable

• Knowledge of computerised systems such as Oracle.
• Proven ability to lead projects and teams.
