As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms (IP) team, you will lead multiple technical areas, directing activities of various groups, and collaborating across domains. Your expertise will drive the adoption of technical methods and help the firm stay at the forefront of industry trends and technological advances.

This role is for a senior engineer to define and drive engineering practices and standards across Infrastructure Platforms, an engineering group with over 5000 engineers. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Practices for IP, you will lead transformation initiatives to elevate our engineering quality and execution.

Job Responsibilities

• Define and lead multiple technology and process implementations to achieve firm-wide objectives in a matrix environment.
• Manage strategic transactional focuses, influencing peers for alignment and execution.
• Establish strategic goals and detailed development practices for platforms, services, and products, identifying opportunities for meaningful change.
• Engage with the technical nuances of infrastructure systems, agile processes, and technology standards.
• Provide leadership and high-level direction to teams across the business lines.
• Interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives to drive consensus.
• Manage multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and cross-product collaborations.
• Collaborate with Engineering Practices leads, architecture teams, and risk partners to deliver compliant solutions.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology domains.
• Drive large-scale change focused on outcomes and culture.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Formal training or certification in Software Engineering with practical experience.
• Hands-on coding experience in any IDE and expertise in software development in any language.
• Experience with AI coding tools and large language models (LLMs).
• Experience leading large or cross-functional teams and managing senior relationships.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, practical AWS, and Kubernetes platform knowledge.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools, especially JPMorgan's JET developer toolchain.
• Proven ability to influence in complex, matrix organizations and deliver value at scale.
• Experience with complex system design, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Extensive practical cloud-native experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with financial services controls and standards is advantageous.
