As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team, driving impact across departments. Utilize your deep knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. Serve as a primary decision-maker for your teams and be a catalyst for innovation and solution delivery.


In this role, you will promote impactful changes across teams, technologies, and projects. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, representing 24% of the market. We are innovating with new payment methods like JP Coin, expanding into new markets, and enhancing settlement speeds such as real-time payments. These advancements require advanced technologies to comply with regulations and sustain business momentum.


If you are passionate about solving intricate engineering challenges using cutting-edge technologies like AI and ML, join us on an exciting transformation journey in regulatory reporting within the Payments sector. This role is centered in the EMEA region, where evolving regulatory landscapes coincide with the rapid expansion into markets like the UAE. You will lead a team of 25+ professionals, including 3-4 direct-report managers, fostering innovation and excellence. We seek a leader eager to harness modern technology to deliver autonomous solutions, manage stakeholders effectively, and inspire your team to align with the strategic goals of the Payments business.


Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional objectives.
  2. Be accountable for decisions influencing resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
  3. Ensure governance over coding decisions, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
  4. Deliver technical solutions applicable across multiple business domains.
  5. Influence peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
  6. Promote the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  7. Possess deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
  8. Adopt newer technologies including AI and ML.
  9. Implement reliable platforms with high availability (triple 9s or more).
  10. Maintain a problem-solving mindset.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering and extensive practical experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technology teams.
  • Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Experience managing products as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • Practical experience with cloud-native architectures.
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of technologies like Pyspark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
  • Experience scaling platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Hands-on coding experience.
  • Understanding of EMEA regulatory environments.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones.
  • Subject matter expertise in Payments.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in relevant disciplines preferred.
