Job summary

Experis IT is partnering with a global software business to appoint a Senior Director of Software Engineering in Nottingham. You will lead ~60 engineers across four to five senior managers, owning strategy, people and delivery in a growing portfolio.

You will drive AI adoption, modernise legacy platforms and shape recruitment, tooling and security practices while aligning with product and leadership on commercial plans.

Qualifications

• Ten years+ engineering experience with management of engineering managers.
• Proven track record delivering scalable software platforms.
• Strong experience with AI integration in software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering strategy across a growing portfolio.
• Develop senior engineering managers and build a leadership team.
• Modernise legacy platforms while enabling newer technologies.
• Drive adoption of AI tools and agents across engineering.
• Improve software quality, delivery confidence and engineering standards.
• Shape recruitment, team structures and investment priorities.
• Standardise tooling, security and development practices.
• Support acquisition integrations as the remit grows.
