Job summary

TradingView Inc is seeking a Senior Director for Market Data to lead the commercial strategy and licensing across a global data portfolio. You will own relationships with exchanges and providers, shape pricing, and drive economic outcomes while collaborating with Product, Engineering, Legal and Finance.

You will develop a data-driven business case framework, manage audits and licensing questions, and guide senior leadership through complex commercial negotiations.

About the role

TradingView operates a global market data portfolio across exchanges and data providers worldwide. The complexity of exchange licensing, pricing models and commercial agreements makes market data a significant strategic and commercial function for the business.
We are looking for a Senior Director for Market Data to take senior ownership of this function.
The core of the role is commercial: shaping how we source and license market data, structuring the right commercial models, and negotiating better outcomes as the business evolves.
You will own strategic relationships with exchanges and market data providers, lead major commercial negotiations, shape our licensing strategy and drive the economics of the portfolio. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal and Finance to ensure our market data strategy supports the business as it grows.

What you will own

Market Data Commercial Strategy

• Define and execute TradingView's commercial strategy for market data globally.

• Own strategic relationships with exchanges and data providers.

• Lead negotiations on pricing, tiers, enterprise agreements, usage models, minimum commitments, waivers and other commercial terms.

• Challenge existing commercial arrangements and identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve terms and better align commitments with actual business needs.

• Evaluate opportunities to consolidate overlapping sources, change sourcing models or restructure agreements.

• Establish a proactive approach to renewals and price reviews, with clear commercial positions prepared well ahead of deadlines.
  

Licensing & Contract Strategy

• Own the commercial and licensing framework for how TradingView sources, uses and distributes market data.

• Understand the economics and implications of different licensing models across the portfolio.

• Advise the business on display and non-display usage, professional and non-professional users, redistribution, derived data and other key licensing concepts.

• Ensure we have a clear understanding of the rights, obligations and commercial exposure associated with our major agreements.

• Lead commercial discussions around audits, licensing questions, disputes and contractual changes.

• Partner with Legal to ensure commercial decisions are supported by a clear understanding of contractual and exchange requirements.

Portfolio Economics

• Build a fact-based view of the economics of the market data portfolio.

• Identify opportunities created by changes in product usage, customer behaviour, vendor pricing and market structure.

• Assess the economics of new data sources and commercial proposals before commitments are made.

• Develop business cases for major sourcing and commercial decisions.

• Establish the right metrics to measure the commercial performance of the portfolio and the impact of negotiations.
  

Cross-functional leadership

• Provide senior leadership on market data strategy and commercial decisions across TradingView.

• Partner with Product and Engineering to understand how market data is consumed and how changes in the product should influence our commercial arrangements.

• Work on budgeting, forecasting and the financial impact of major commercial decisions.

• Work with Legal on licensing, contractual interpretation and exchange requirements.

• Provide clear recommendations to senior leadership on major market data decisions.

What we are looking for

• Significant experience in market data, ideally from an exchange, market data provider, broker, trading platform, investment firm or another financial markets business.

• A strong track record of negotiating directly with exchanges and market data providers. You have personally led complex commercial negotiations.

• Deep understanding of market data licensing, exchange policies, pricing structures and commercial models.

• Strong knowledge of concepts such as display and non-display usage, professional and non-professional users, redistribution, derived data, enterprise licensing and audit or true-up mechanisms.

• Strong commercial judgement. You can look at a contract, pricing structure, usage and business requirements and determine where there is a genuine opportunity to improve the commercial outcome.

• Ability to build a credible commercial position from complex information and defend it in negotiations with sophisticated counterparties.

• Experience managing senior relationships with exchanges and major market data providers.

• Experience leading and developing specialist teams, with the ability to set direction while working effectively with deep domain experts.

• Ability to work effectively across commercial, product, technical and legal topics without needing to be the deepest technical expert in every area.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

Useful experience

• Experience managing a global market data portfolio across multiple exchanges, asset classes and regions.

• Experience with market data management or inventory platforms such as MDSL, Calero, TRG Screen or similar.

• Experience with a business that distributes market data to a large user base.

• Experience using analytics, automation or AI tools to improve commercial analysis and vendor management.
