It is essential that Whitbread, owner of the leading budget hotel brand Premier Inn, remains compliant with all tax obligations while optimizing its tax position. The Senior Direct Tax Manager will leverage their comprehensive tax technical knowledge, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to lead various corporation tax and employment tax matters. Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders will support the wider Whitbread strategy.

This role is suitable for someone looking to transition from an accounting practice into industry.

Location: Dunstable, hybrid - a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

What you’ll do:

• Manage UK corporate tax compliance, including computations, returns, capital allowances, and R&D claims.
• Deliver accurate tax accounting for year-end and interim group reporting under IFRS, maintaining relationships with external advisors and auditors.
• Provide pragmatic advice on complex property transactions and technical tax areas.
• Support international tax matters, including transfer pricing and cross-border financing.
• Manage IR35 and CIS compliance.
• Assist with tax governance, including SAO and Tax Strategy.
• Provide team management and coaching.

What we need:

• Fully qualified (ACA or CTA) with at least 5+ years PQE, with detailed UK corporation tax and IAS 12 tax accounting knowledge.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment with high accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder relationship building.
