Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Systems Engineer, Autonomy & Software to tackle complex challenges in developing, integrating, and deploying autonomous defense systems. The role spans systems and software engineering, requiring translation of mission needs into robust system requirements and verification strategies.

The candidate will work across multidisciplinary teams, maintain interfaces, and ensure alignment of software with overall system architecture and autonomy capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years delivering complex software-intensive systems.
• Strong background in C++ and Python development and debugging.
• Experience with autonomous or robotic systems and defense-related domains.
• Solid grasp of systems engineering principles and their application to defense systems.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering principles to development and integration of autonomous defense systems.
• Translate mission and customer needs into system, software, and autonomy requirements.
• Develop and maintain architectures, interfaces, and verification strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure successful system integration.
• Define and manage interfaces between subsystems and external systems.
• Maintain understanding of how system requirements map to software behavior.
