Job summary

Smarkets is building a security engineering function from the ground up to support its cloud-native trading platform and regulated business. You will stand up the security program, implement guardrails, and automate security across CI/CD pipelines while partnering with infrastructure and engineering teams.

You will lead risk assessments, translate findings into practical steps, and ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

Hands-on security engineering/DevSecOps in a cloud-native, high-growth environment.
Experience with regulatory requirements and audits in financial services/exchange infrastructure.
Familiarity with application security principles (OWASP Top 10, NIST) and secure SDLC practices.
Proficiency with CI/CD tooling and security tooling.

Responsibilities

Build security foundations as part of a founding team from ground up through go-live.
Design, deploy, and maintain security guardrails across cloud-native platforms and AI security solutions.
Automate security processes as code and integrate checks into CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct risk audits, translate findings, and implement remediation with engineering teams.
Monitor logs, detect anomalies, support incidents, and drive post-incident analysis.
Plan and test security backups and disaster recovery to ensure resilience.
Develop and maintain security policies and controls for regulatory examinations.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate complex security concepts for non-security partners.
Promote ownership of security across the engineering organization.
