Job summary

Parliamentary Digital Service is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to shape and govern DevOps practices across cloud-native platforms. You will lead CI/CD improvements, build self-service capabilities, and promote secure, automated pipelines for multiple product teams.

You will guide system architecture with a focus on reliability, observability, and developer enablement while mentoring engineers and collaborating with stakeholders. Hybrid work is offered within the UK Parliament environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced, hands-on experience with cloud, automation, and software engineering practices.
• Own design, evolution and governance of CI/CD pipelines across multiple product teams.
• Champion modern engineering practices, platform patterns, and infrastructure as code.
• Design observability frameworks with logs, metrics, traces, and alerting.
• Incorporate security by design and automated controls across pipelines and cloud resources.

Responsibilities

• Define, architect, and govern DevOps processes.
• Optimise live and non-production environments.
• Design, build, and maintain shared CI/CD pipeline frameworks and self-service platform capabilities.
• Deliver the implementation of secure engineering practices.
• Improve service operability and reliability through engineering.
• Influence system and service design at an architectural level.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the DevOps function.
• Mentor, coach, and technically lead DevOps engineers.
• Act as a key partner to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Champion modern engineering, cloud, platform engineering, and security practices across teams.
